Pressure gauges installed on the inlet and outlet of a filter housing can be used to determine when the cartridges are dirty. The pressure gauges give a visual indication of the pressure before and after the filter. The more the filter loads up with particles, the more the differential pressure increases. Once the differential pressure reaches a user determined value, usually 15-25 psid, the operator knows that the filter needs to be changed or cleaned. Consult filter cartridge manufacturer for maximum psid recommendations as this value varies based on cartridge type.
